The Island York’s Monk Park Farm Summer Outing
This summer we had a fantastic time on our annual Island outing. This year, we took our Mentors and Mentees to Monk Park Farm in North Yorkshire.
The children who use our services here at The Island York were able to feed the animals and there were plenty of demonstrations and talks from the friendly team who taught the children and young people about their roles on the farm. There were lambs, sheep, goats, calves, pigs, donkeys, llamas, alpacas, hens, peacocks, rabbits and guinea pigs. The rabbits and guinea pigs were extremely popular!
There were also other popular features and attractions including an adventure playground, nature trail, and lake. The children could also play in the pedal car/tractors arena as well as go-carts and barrel rides.
At lunchtime the children and adults each received a pack up picnic lunch followed by their own choice of ice cream, which they thoroughly enjoyed!
Some of the comments and quotes from the children were:
- “this is the best day of my life”
- “go-carts are well cool”
- “the animals were so cute, especially the guinea pigs”
- "I have never been to a farm before, thank you for bringing me"
We're always looking to places to take the children and young people to during the summer holidays. If you can recommend anywhere or are a business who
would like to enhance the experiences of children and young people, then please get in touch
.
