On Monday 14 May, Catherine Adamson organised a raffle at the York Women Mean Business networking event to raise funds for her upcoming 109-mile walk and wild camping challenge across the Cleveland Way. Catherine is hoping to raise £10,000, which will be split equally between The Island York and Sash.
The number of businesses who gave generously to Catherine’s fundraiser was incredible. Throughout the evening, the YWMB group raised an amazing £520, which is a great result.
Catherine’s main challenge aka the 109-mile walk will begin on Saturday 2 June and she’s hoping to complete her mission by Friday 8 June. She still has a long way to go in order to reach her £10,000 goal, however, we are confident that she will be able to reach her target.
As a small charity, £5,000 is a lot of money to us. £5,000 means that we’ll be able to offer 333 one-to-one activities to the children and young people who use our services. The activities provide the children and young people with the opportunity to explore their potential, whilst working closely with their fully trained mentor. Our one-to-one mentoring service has proven to enhance the mental, emotional and social well-being of children and young people as well as reduce anti-social and criminal behaviour within our communities.
If you are able to support Catherine by sponsoring her, then we’d really appreciate it. To donate visit >>> https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/CatherineAdamson
On behalf of everyone here at The Island York we would like to thank you for your generosity and support so that we can keep our services going.
